Mini Project:

Build your first GenAI-powered Python script that sends prompts and parses responses.

Outcome:

Learners gain a clear mental model of GenAI systems, understand transformers and LLM fundamentals, and can build their first GenAI script confidently. They acquire the conceptual foundation needed for the entire program.

Developer mindset for GenAI: “We orchestrate, not train”
APIs vs Local models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Hugging Face, Ollama)
Installing and running local LLMs (Ollama, LM Studio, vLLM)
Cost management, prompt budgeting, rate limits
Comparing model behavior across providers
Prompt tuning vs fine-tuning
Lightweight finetuning (LoRA, QLoRA)

Essential Tools:

OpenAI API, Hugging Face Transformers, Ollama/LM Studio, vLLM.

Mini Project:

Build and compare a simple chatbot across API, open-source, and local models.

Outcome:

Learners can run GenAI models anywhere—cloud, open-source, or local. They understand cost-performance trade-offs and can adapt an application to any LLM provider.

Weeks 5

Writing production-style prompt pipelines manually
Handling conversation memory without frameworks
Parsing LLM responses reliably (JSON, structured parsing)
Building simple UI with Streamlit/Gradio
Error handling, retries, fallbacks

Mini Project:

Build a minimal chatbot with memory + UI using just Python + APIs (no LangChain).

Outcome:

Learners understand what's happening “under the hood” before using higher-level orchestration frameworks. They gain experience building real apps directly with APIs.
